Watsu & Aquatic Bodywork

Aquatic Bodywork, or water massage, encompasses many modalities including Watsu, Waterdance, Healing Dance and more. It is performed in a heated pool (usually around body temperature) in Wailuku for my private clients. I am always looking for more pools on Maui to do Watsu in! Watsu is my greatest passion, and the fastest way to heal trauma that I’ve found.

I have been a Certified Watsu Practitioner since 2004, & have also completed Waterdance & Healing Dance courses. You can choose to stay at the surface or to be guided underwater with noseclips. There will likely be floats around your lower legs to help float your lower half, while your head might be resting on an elbow, a shoulder, a hand, or even in a floating pillow. You will be gently lifted up and supported in warm water, then massaged, stretched, and nurtured.

Aquatic Bodywork like Watsu can be wonderful for all kinds of people—people with trauma (that’s all of us), anxiety, fear of water, non-swimmers, elderly people, large people, pregnant people, people who love the water, people with muscle pain, people who have a hard time slowing down, and more. Watsu is weightless bliss! There is a chair lift at the pool I use in Wailuku to lower people into the pool if needed.

Aquatic Bodywork is a unique experience and can be very profoundly healing. Your ears are underwater most of the time, which quickly invites you to be with your breath. Watsu is an inward journey that is unique to each receiver and session. It can be accompanied by Singing Bowls both above and below the water for the ultimate blissed out water meditation.
